SUMMARY:Courage Ride
DESCRIPTION:WHEN\nSat\, August 8\, 2026\n6:30 AM – 5:00 PM \nWHERE\nBig Grove Brewery & Taproom\nIowa City\, IA \nWHO\nSeth Bailey Courage Group (Courage Ride Event Committee) \nDESCRIPTION\nDistances: 18\, 37\, 57\, 85\, 105 miles\nThe Courage Ride is a charity cycling event dedicated to funding sarcoma cancer research at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Inspired by the life and courage of Seth Bailey\, this ride supports critical early-stage research that leads to life-saving breakthroughs. \nNow in its 22nd year\, the Courage Ride takes place on Saturday\, August 8\, starting and finishing at Big Grove Brewery & Taproom in Iowa City. Riders of all levels can choose from five scenic routes through the rolling countryside of eastern Iowa\, including the Amish communities near Hills and Kalona\, and extending to North English and Millersburg. A virtual ride option is also available. \nFounded in 2005 by Seth’s parents\, Jackie and Tom Bailey\, in partnership with Bicyclists of Iowa City (BIC)\, the event honors Seth’s legacy and brings together a passionate community committed to making a difference. \nMore than 350 cyclists are expected to participate. Riders will enjoy well-supported routes with rest stops\, great food\, live music\, and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. The event also features a silent auction with items from local businesses and artisans. \nSupporting Sarcoma Cancer Research\n100% of proceeds benefit the UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Research Program. Over the past 21 years\, Courage Ride has raised more than $1 million to fund seed grants—helping launch innovative studies that attract top researchers and drive new treatment advancements. \nSarcoma is rare and underfunded\, receiving just 1–2% of all cancer research dollars. Yet each year in the U.S.\, nearly 14\,000 people are diagnosed and more than 5\,000 lose their lives to the disease. Courage Ride plays a vital role in changing that trajectory. \nRegistration\nRegistration opens in early April:\n• $75 early registration (through July 31)\n• $85 starting August 1\n• $90 on-site (August 7–8)\n• Youth (ages 13–17): $15\nRegistration includes breakfast\, lunch\, fully supported rest stops\, SAG support\, and live music. \nEvent Highlights\n• Start/finish at Big Grove Brewery & Taproom\n• 5 paved routes (18–105 miles)\n• Scenic eastern Iowa countryside\n• Fully supported ride (maps\, SAG\, mechanics)\n• Rest stops with food\, drinks\, and entertainment\n• Silent auction featuring local goods\n• Courage Ride jerseys available \nLearn more\, register\, or donate at www.CourageRide.org\nFollow along on Facebook\, Instagram\, and Twitter.\nJoin us and help fight sarcoma cancer—together.

SUMMARY:Courage Ride - 2025
DESCRIPTION:Courage Ride is a charity bike ride that kicks off and finishes at Big Grove Brewery and Taproom in Iowa City. With five route options ranging from 18.5 to 105 miles\, it’s designed for cyclists of all levels. Beyond the ride\, participants can enjoy live music\, great food\, and a silent auction—making it a full day of fun for a great cause.\n\n\nThe event honors Seth Bailey\, a courageous young man who passed away from sarcoma cancer at age 25 in 2003. In his memory\, his parents\, Jackie and Tom Bailey\, teamed up with Bicyclists of Iowa City (BIC) in 2005 to create a ride that welcomes everyone.\n\n\nProceeds from Courage Ride support the Sarcoma Cancer Research Program at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC)\, providing 85% of all sarcoma seed grant funding at the university. Since 2005\, these funds have fueled numerous research grants\, many of which have grown into larger\, promising studies. The momentum behind this research is driving new discoveries\, forging key partnerships\, and attracting top-tier talent—all helping to advance sarcoma treatment and improve patient lives.\nCan’t make it in person? You can still support the cause through a virtual ride or by making an online donation.\n\n\n2025 registration opens in April.\n
