Iowa MTB Festival

The second annual Iowa Mountain Bike Festival will be on October 3 at Creekside Park in Coralville from 10 AM to 4 PM. There will be vendors, demos, and rides. Experience the Creekside Flow Trail or Woodpecker Singletrack. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or dirt trail beginner, come to Creekside, come enjoy the action-packed weekend. More information here.
The festival is hosting a women-specific mountain bike clinic where you can learn the basic skills and techniques to be comfortable on your local singletrack. This beginner-intermediate level clinic (1.5-2 hours) is taught by Down 2 Bike Project and is limited to 6 participants per session. Learn more about the coach by visiting down2bikeproject.com. 2:00 – 4:00 – Clinic #2
Fine-tune your bike handling skills in a safe and controlled environment before hitting the Coralville Creekside trail system. You will learn proper bike/body positioning to navigate corners, climbs, and descents, as well as efficient braking techniques. In addition, Sugar Bottom Bikes will be on-site and offering free demo bikes for all participants. Try out a Santa Cruz, Juliana, or Jamis full suspension!
You should be comfortable riding a bike, know how to operate hand brakes and gears, and have your own bike and helmet. Please ensure your bike is in good working order before the clinic. If you need it serviced, please call your local bike retailer. Participants should be at least fourteen years old. The clinic will be held rain or shine and will be meeting at the Sugar Bottom Bikes demo tent.
Family Ride 2 PM
Jared Morford of Iowa Safe Routes to School will ride with families from the park on the Clear Creek Trail. They will ride two miles then turn around at James St. This family-friendly ride requires helmets, bikes, and a guardian or parent.
