Growing up in North Liberty, Kendra spent summers on two wheels, riding to her best friend’s house, biking to her father’s work at the University of Iowa Oakdale Campus, and riding to Iowa City to check out record stores and see movies. However, that passion for cycling subsided from 2005–2022, until she took up cycling once again in early 2022. Since then, she’s never looked back, and has logged over 1,000 miles in 2022 and has participated in three gravel cycling events.
As a transgender individual, Kendra is unique in the biking world and uses her creative talents to share her experience with group rides, events, and promote cycling in Iowa. As Kendra “Aspire” Dolezal, she has found love and freedom in cycling.
“The name “Aspire” comes from wanting to rise high, and achieve new goals. But Aspire isn’t totally about me, it’s also to inspire others along my way.”
Kendra has loved exploring the growing trail system in the area, which allows for safe and enjoyable cycling experiences. You can find Kendra on the many different group rides in the corridor. “We are blessed to have so many great cycling groups and I love getting out and meeting new friends and enjoying the beautiful scenery we call home.”
