Meet Jenny.

Hey there! I’m Jenny. I work as a Managing Editor on several science journals. It involves problem solving, scheduling, and interacting with different personalities. I like helping science get published into the world! I am also a mom to three, a poet who likes to write about horror movies and nature, and a rock climber. I first started riding my bike when I was a little girl and it was a way for me to get away from my four older brothers. It was the first taste of freedom for me: as long as I stayed on the sidewalk I could stay out riding around until it got dark.

There’s so much to love about Bike Iowa City. I love how there are paved trails and dirt trails, I love the different weather, I love how I can meet other people just by riding my bike. I love anything that gets more people outside. I love how there are more bike lanes in Iowa City than a few years ago and that the Iowa Mountain Bike Festival — which happened in October — took place at the Coralville Creekside park where a local company Backyard Trails, LLC built the trails!

Favorite place to ride in Bike Iowa City

At the moment my favorite set of trails to ride is at Coralville Creekside ballpark. The green, blue, and black trails there are all awesome and were built with love and grit by the local Iowa business Backyard Trails, LLC.

Favorite cycling event in Bike Iowa City

I would have to say one of my favorite bike events in Iowa City is the September Farm Cycle Ride put on by The Bike Library  Picking either the Cherry Tomato route, the Kale Yeah route, or the Beet it up Route, one rides their bike to several local farms to meet their local farmers, sample some amazing fresh food and beverages, pet some animals, listen to live music, and socialize. It rocks!

You're ready for some grub after a ride. Where will we find you?

I have to say one of my favorite post ride hangouts to grab a cold one after a ride would be Big Grove: their recent Laser Disc and Colorado Smuggler IPAs are pretty on point!
